Wedding Trends For 2016

As we head happily towards the New Year, I really couldn’t resist the opportunity to take a look forward at the wedding trends I think we’ll be seeing a lot of in 2016. I have to say that I could have written so much here that you might well still have been reading come 2017 so I’ve restricted myself to just five top trends! Without further ado, let’s peek into the crystal ball and talk about wedding trends for 2016…

It might be the middle of winter but there’s one upcoming wedding trend that’s guaranteed to warm you up and that’s Tropical Botanicals. We’ve all loved foliage in weddings so much over the past few years and this is a development of that fabulous look. Think of leaves and flowers that just make you dream of exotic foreign shores. You can either go bold with lots of colour or keep it simple with greens and whites. Add in a boho or beach style wedding dress and you’ll feel like starting your honeymoon early!

Cascading-Floral

Cascading Florals are set to be big in 2016 in whatever shape or form you take them. Loose waterfall or cascade bouquets look amazing with column dresses and their ‘undone’ style is given a real touch of luxury from an abundance of flowers and foliage – this is tradition with a big modern twist. Hanging floral installations will also be super popular in 2016. I love these dramatic and eye- catching designs – they fill space, make large venues feel more intimate, provide loads of visual interest and help keep your tables clear and clutter free. Fantastic!

Dark-Cakes
Dark-Cakes

The dark cake trend is set to move us onwards from the popular naked cake and brings a large portion of glamour to your wedding day. Dark cakes are real works of art and, when finished with a touch of metallic brilliance, are even more attractive. I love them combined with big blowsy flowers to soften the dark tones and bring gentle femininity to the cake. If you want a show-stopping bake for your wedding, look no further!

Pantone-2016
Pantone-2016

Pantone, the legendary colour experts, have announced their colours for 2016 and, in a nod to gender equality, they’ve opted for a harmonious blue and pink combination. This elegant duo is set to see plenty of use in wedding styling – the shades work well with so many different styles of wedding and you can use them liberally throughout your day or sparingly alongside whites and nude shades. I think that Rachel Simpson’s beautifully coloured wedding shoes are an absolute must-have accessory if you’ve fallen in love with these colours.

Embellishments
Embellishments

I couldn’t leave without a look at one of my favourite wedding dress trends – embellishments! As you might have seen in our NY catwalk report and online, beading and embellishments of all kinds are all over wedding gowns right now and their intricate, delicate beauty sits perfectly alongside simple, light tulle skirts. Our fabulous designers, Hayley Paige, Anna Campbell, Martina Liana, Love Marley and Watters really know how to rock the embellishments trend so you’re in for a treat when you visit us!

I can’t wait to see you soon and hear all about your wedding plans – book your private appointment today and come and see our stunning wedding gowns and bridal accessories for yourself.

Love,
