5 Top Things Your Wedding Consultant Wants You To Know

Don’t criticise your body

The reason we don’t want you to do this as a bride-to-be is because it puts a real downer on your wedding dress shopping experience. We all have parts of our bodies we’re not sure about. But if you point them out or talk negatively about them, it’ll make your day less enjoyable.

Instead of criticising your body, we want you to talk about the parts you do like. That way we can find you a dress that accentuates your favourite parts of your body. Part of our job as a wedding consultant is to find dresses that suit any body shape, so we want to find the right dress for you.

We need you to be honest

The goal of a wedding consultant is to find you your dream wedding dress. We don’t want you to leave empty-handed and we really want you to be honest. We don’t want to find you any dress - we want to find the right dress for YOU. That’s why we need you to be honest about what you like and what you don’t like when you try different dresses on.

So when you try on each dress, take your time and look over every detail. What do you like? What don’t you like? Want less sparkle? Need the skirt to be fuller? Whatever it is, we can handle it, because we want you to tell us exactly what you think!

Talk over your thoughts because the wedding consultant will know what you’re talking about. It might take a few tries to find your perfect dress, but honesty is the best policy.

Go with an open mind

It’s usually the case that a bride has a specific style in mind. Yet when they try it on, it’s not as they expected it to be. So keep an open mind with your wedding consultant when you’re trying on different dresses. The style that you have in mind is usually the style that you don’t end up leaving with! Plus you might change your mind various times when you’re trying on dresses. Be open to all different styles and never judge a dress on the hanger.

Wear the right underwear

We want you to be prepared when you come for your wedding dress appointment and feel comfortable too. So please wear the right underwear! Your best bet is nude underwear and a strapless bra (even if you don’t want a strapless dress). We’re not just saying this - it gives you a more accurate portrayal of what you’d look like on your wedding day.

The fewer people you bring the better

Many brides think the best idea is to bring every single one of their girlfriends with them to their wedding dress appointment. And you might think that’s fine. But the more personalitites you have in the room, the more difficult it’s going to be.

You might want their opinion, but when they pick their favourite dress and you don’t feel the same? You can easily become torn and you’ll end up not listening to your own thoughts. That’s why we only allow three additional people at your appointment because we know they’ll be the people you trust.

Wedding dress shopping can be a wonderful experience and your wedding consultant will want to make it perfect for you. Remember these key things and we promise, it’ll make it all the more easier to find the perfect dress.
