6 Things You NEED To Know Before Visiting A Wedding Boutique

Visiting a wedding boutique to start searching for your dress should be one of the most magical experiences of your life. But there are a few things that can make it more stressful than it needs to be. So today, we wanted to share our best tips with you, so you’re fully prepared before you even step into your first dress.

6 Things You NEED To Know Before Visiting A Wedding Boutique by Coco and Kate. Visiting a wedding boutique to start searching for your dress should be one of the most magical experiences of your life. But there are a few things that can make it more…

1. Educate yourself

It’s surprising how different wedding dresses can be! So before your appointment, try and get familiar with the basic styles and silhouettes of wedding gowns. It’s about thinking how you want to feel on your wedding day and what look you want to achieve.

2. Always book an appointment

Most wedding boutiques only offer appointments, so it’s best to book to make sure you get full, undivided attention.

3. Invite as few people as possible

We’d advise only inviting those people who's opinions mean the most to you - that’s why we only allow up to 3 additional guests at your appointment. This way you won’t get overwhelmed, it’ll be easier to handle your emotions, and it allows the people you invite to be thrilled that they’re part of the decision. It’s such a happy time, so make sure the people you bring are full of positive energy.

4. Go with an open mind

Sometimes you might find what you don’t want is actually what suits you the most. Or your stylist might suggest you try on a style that you’re not sure of. Whatever it is, have an open mind and don’t over analyse. It sounds cliche, but you’ll know deep down when you’re in the dress that’s meant for you.

5. Consider your budget

Make sure you have an idea of what you want to spend before you start trying on dresses. This step will really help you narrow down your search.

6. Give yourself plenty of time

It’s useful to know your wedding date or a close estimate when you visit a wedding boutique. You want to make sure you don’t rush your decision. Our dresses can take between 4-6 months to be handmade and then we leave room for alterations too. A year or even earlier is a great place to start.

7. You don’t have to say “yes” on the spot

This isn’t a regular shopping trip. You’re looking for THE dress, the dress for the biggest day of your life. It’s such a special moment. You might find that you need to visit a few wedding boutiques or that you find your dress in the first one. Don’t be afraid to wait and think about it, but if you know it’s right for you, don’t be afraid to say yes too!

We hope these tips take at least some of the mystery away when it comes to visiting a wedding boutique. Are you starting your wedding dress search? Make a date with us! We’ll be with you every step of the way. You can book your appointment here.
